In the park, from around 2 until 5. I feel it’s going to be too hot - forecast 28/29 degrees.

Through this hot spell we’ve been taking him out for exercise early in the morning, then the rest of the day he has unfettered access to the garden and his paddling pool. He’s quite sensibly sleeping a lot and staying out of the sun.

I feel taking him out tomorrow when it’s hottest isn’t right. DH says we’ll stick to the shade and take water etc. But I know my dog and a) he weirdly won’t drink water outside and b) he won’t be able to relax as there will be people/kids/food etc.

DH will acquiesce if I put my foot down and I feel I should. AIBU?

YANBU. Add too hot on the paws unless it's all grass.

Mad dogs and Englishmen ... your dog sounds sane.

Flippetydip · 29/06/2018 16:33

Yes, leave him at home - it'll be way too hot.

ToothTrauma · 29/06/2018 16:49

If he's unconvinced, maybe take a look at this (if you haven't already, I've not RTFT)

Yes leave him at home, he'll be far happier.

I had to pop out this afternoon to somewhere I would normally take my dog. The car was hot, air con couldn't seem to cope. When I got out of the car the sun was beating down and by the time I got home I was really feeling the heat. She would have been thoroughly miserable if I'd dragged her along.

Came home to a relaxed, cool, happy dog.
