My dog has symptoms of toothache ... teeth chattering, yawning, licking chops a lot and sleeps more during the day.
I took him to the vet yesterday and it’s agreed he needs a dental... maybe a few teeth out even. He’s a Chinese Crested aged 13 so bad teeth go with the breed. The vet was surprised he still has so many teeth left
This will be done under anaesthetic. I am worried about any increased risks he faces due to his history of pancreatitis. He’s had acute episodes .. about 4... followed by several episodes of impending illness which I managed to avert with steroids prescribed by the vet. I have him on pancreatic enzymes with food otherwise he loses weight and feels hungry all the time. The vet indicated that there wouldn’t be any added risks from the dental but it wasn’t his normal vet and I’m still worried. I planned to book him in early next week.
Any body with experience of pancreatitis dogs ( old too) getting a dental?
I can’t se any other way because he can’t be left in pain.
Any vets/ vet nurses out there who can reassure or otherwise ?
Thanks in advance
