Lucy's Law - Parliamentary Debate 21 May

I wondered if anyone had seen the debate on Lucy's Law (there was a link here a while ago to the e-petition). It seems to have been largely a consensual discussion, which is good news, and there will be further consultation. Here is a link to the Hansard transcript for anyone who has missed it:

It can also be watched here - it's two hours long:

I read through (skipped bits I admit) the hansard transcript and felt they agreed to focus on the commercial side of puppy (and kitten) selling rather than trying to make it too broad a scope (not to include rescues - who do so much for animal welfare)
I noticed that a Welsh member admitted there are lots of puppy farms etc in Wales and assume that is because of remoteness/not likely to get found out - but it is really so important that these establishments are found and prosecuted. The general public need to be made aware that this goes on (even if they are not dog lovers themselves).Sad

I agree @drearydeardre. There might be economic factors in play re. the Welsh puppy farms, as well as the remoteness and availability of land, as some areas of Wales have very high unemployment and therefore possibly more people willing to act as a front for farmed pups to earn a cut.
