Do you think my puppy is finding it a bit warm.

Lighthearted by the way. Let my puppy (11 weeks) out for a wee before bed and he did this. Think he wanted to sleep alfresco.

Please don't worry he is in a cold kitchen his crate is covered and the blinds are down incase of morning sun. Also I am in Scotland so my house is only 22 degrees and my kitchen is colder.

Mine still does this at 10 months... often I let him out for his last wee and then check several minutes later to find he has settled down in the middle of the lawn

My dog, 7 years old, also does this. She likes to sit in the open back door even when it's cold and raining though, so she's a bit odd with her love of the outside anyway.

I really think that if I let her she'd be more than happy to sleep in the garden all night.

During the day, in this warm weather, she's spending most of her time lying asleep in the shade. She hates the heat so we go for walks once it's cooled off a bit.

I have recently discovered cool mats on line - I'd never heard of them before. You can get a sort with gel inside and it doesn't need putting in the 'fridge first. The weight of your dog makes it cool down. It lasts a few hours until you need to get the dog off it so it can take an hour to return to working order. The only problem I've got is that my dog hasn't realised yet how nice and cool it is - she only lies on part of it by accident so far. It is very nice to put your hot feet on though. Reading the reviews, others have had more success and their dogs love them.

The only time my pup would contemplate sleeping on the lawn is if I am doing the weeding. She likes to be able to keep an eye on me at all times. In case the squirrel comes down out of the tree to attack me you understand, she is very attentive when it comes to my personal protection .

I've never heard of cool mats either Mrsjoy. I suspect I dog would love that as she often sleeps on the cold kitchen floor, but given that she probably wouldn't actually lie on a mat, I don't think it'd work for us.

She likes to move around: floor, sofa, her bed, open back doorway, the garden, one of the bedrooms upstairs, my bed and so on throughout the evening. She's a very restless sleeper.

This is our 17 month old husky, he keeps sunbathing then getting himself too hot and retreating to the shade! We’re in the SE so it is very warm here.

Doesn't he realise as a husky he shouldn't be enjoying the sun. He's built for the cold.

Like a husky my dog also has a double coat, which is why I've always thought she doesn't like the heat. Clearly it's nothing to do with her coat.

@mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork cool mat awesome going to get one of those. Yes geek pup has a double coat and is black so properly struggled when it was warm. He does like to just sit outside though and sniff the wind 😂

Cool mats are very effective I may have borrowed my dogs one to rest my hot swollen ankle on, when I'd sprained it last year . Super cold in very little time and stayed colder for longer than anything else.
