Shopping list for a new puppy?

Just after best buys for a new puppy that you really need? Was thinking crate, bed, bowls, car/boot guard, lead (or harness - which is best?) and so on. What's a fab buy/couldn't live without and what's a waste of space/money/don't bother....

Wood root chew toy and buffalo horn chew toy. Wouldn’t be without them!

You MUST have a tag with your details on. Check KC website for what has to be on it.
Breed? Some do better on harnesses.
Poo bags and enzyme cleaners for mistakes.
Vet fleece. Comfy washable bed.
Nylabone and Kong.

Buy a really warm dressing gown with a hood, and some croc type things. Because standing in the garden while its raining at 3am waiting for a puppy to wee is a little bit better if you are warm and dry. You'll need the crocs (buy the sort without holes round the sole so the water doesn't leak in) as you compete in your own personal race from sofa to out the back door fifteen squillion times a day.

Also a lot of Simple Solution spray and rolls of really good absorbent kitchen paper. Don't skimp on cheap paper as its a false economy.

Don't buy an expensive bed for a puppy - use vet bed or fleece blankets in their crate so they are easily washed and you won't be upset if they are chewed/ pooed on

And a torch for nighttime pee visits!

Definitely crate, non chewable bedding, stainless steel bowls, collar, lead, dog tag, brush and comb, kong, poo bags, enzyme cleaner, canvas travel kennel.... enjoy.

All of the above. Also have you left an item of your clothing or a blanket that smells like you with the puppy so he/she can get used to your smell? This can also help with the settling in period when you first bring them home as they are ready recognise your smell.

I would also add a puppy brush to your lost and start brushing the puppy so that frim a young age they are used to being brushed.

So there's as much as I thought :). Best places to buy? We've only got a pets at home place near us, then supermarkets/home bargains etc. I think the new pup will be spoiled more than the kids were

I'm in the process of stocking up on puppy supplies too and I've found that online VetUK site is cheaper than lots of other places.
Also eBay and Amazon have some good pet supplies.
I'm also buying a car seat. You don't have to have a car seat but must have dog secure in your car either in a crate or secured using an attachment from your puppy's harness to the seat belt x

Pets at home is pricy and not always great quality. I highly don't recommend their blue and yellow range. My dog wrecked their supposedly tougher toys in no time.

A car seat? For a dog?
We have a guard for the boot. That's fine. It doesn't have to be a crate or seatbelt and harness.

If you decide to use puppy pads, B&M do a 100 pack for about £8. its at least double that in PAH

I can't picture that! How do you secure the pup? (Mine would NOT go in the boot as a little pup. She had a crate on the front seat!

Crate, so that she has a place that's hers. Antler chews. Crate in boot of car. VetBed to line all of her spaces.

But what she most needs above everything else is your attention and love.
