Never thought I’d love a dog like this

Bit of a cheesy one - iv never been very fond of dogs I was bit when I was young so it obviously put me off! We have had one before (different breed) that we had to rehome due to me being pregnant and very unwell and the dog literally chewing everything in sight. It just wasn’t the right time.

Now we thought very long and hard about getting another dog we already have 3 DC and my husband has grown up with dogs all his life. But our dog is now 5 months and I can honestly say I love her!! She is amazing with the DC and is just so Loveable. She listens to everything we tell her, house trained very quickly (my biggest fear)
She plays with DC so differently than how she plays with us so she knows her limits! I don’t know what I would do without her now!

SmileSmileSmile What breed is she?

We got our lurcher about 3 weeks ago. It was a slightly rocky start, but I love her to bits now. We're even sacrificing our sofa to dog-ponginess because it's so nice to cuddle up with her in the evenings.

Wassat · 08/04/2018 19:44

I feel like this about our 8 month old spaniel- she is my first dog and I didn't realise how much I would love her or she me! She is lovely with the children, she has a big waggy tail and she is always ready with a lovely cuddle! I absolutely adore her !

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 08/04/2018 19:46

Awww puppyhood is lovely but bloody hard work. Glad you have an easy puppy, hope the teen years are kind to you too Wink

Mine is now 10yo, had him when my youngest was 8, so he's grown up with them and they adore him. He's my boy though Grin

My Dh works away and my kids are young adults now so I spend a lot of time with the dog, I love him to bits!

PennyPIckle · 08/04/2018 20:11

I have always been a dog owner. Dogs are so much more trustworthy than humans. I have unconditionally loved each and every one of them. My pup is now 5 months old. She is absolutely my best friend. I wouldn’t be without her. The only being that will love you more than themselves is a dog.

Hope you and your puppy have a fantastic, long life together xx

“Dogs are so much more trustworthy than humans”

I love my dog very much. But this is just not true.

BertrandRussell · 08/04/2018 20:20

Her previous owner said about my dog “She’s just made of love” And she is. Smile

ManicPixieDream · 08/04/2018 20:23

Our girl is a Lab X Collie and she is amazing. Brilliant with the kids and an absolute joy to be around.

What breed is your dog OP?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 08/04/2018 21:13

Dogs are so much more trustworthy than humans

If I left my bacon sandwich in a room with DS and DDog for ten seconds, it would be gone. Wouldn't like to guess who was responsible though. Grin

TattyTShirt · 12/04/2018 12:44

I'd trust my dog before any human. I wouldn't trust anybody's else's dog though

TheCrowFromBelow · 12/04/2018 13:12

I don’t trust my dog with butter, bread, in fact any food apart from lettuce.
We too have lost our sofa Grin and our dog is made of love —and gas—

Never thought I’d love a dog like this
TattyTShirt · 12/04/2018 23:42

Haha! The Crow!🤣 I wouldn't trust my pup not to Nick a sandwich. The oldest knows better. But I would trust them both not to pretend to be my friend and then stab me in the back - 100%

counterpoint · 12/04/2018 23:57

I've completely rearranged my life to be able to spend more time with my good boy. Still feel guilty when I can't be with him every minute of the day. Love every hair on his very hairy body. Smile

BlondeWrites · 13/04/2018 14:33

Totally get this. Our Springer is 11 months old and while he's a total embarrassment bit of a handful, we are besotted with him. I knew I'd love having a dog, but I had no idea just how much I'd love it.

They just give you so much.

SavoyCabbage · 13/04/2018 14:44

When we got our dog I was the least on board member of the family. I remember being at the rescue centre thinking 'am I really going to have this raggedy monster in my house'

Now she sleeps in my arms.

I cherish my dog more than most humans I know tbh.

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 13/04/2018 14:54

Aww - this is so sweet OP! V, v happy for you!
Also @TheCrowFromBelow - what breed is your doggy? (a spaniel/flatcoat????) - she/he looks gorgeous!

MistOnTheWater · 13/04/2018 14:55

I can leave a plate of food on the floor in the living room and my Staffie won't touch it! (Kitchen is another matter). Wonderful sophead of a dog. And she says thank you for her dinner.

One of our ddogs that apparently aren't good as pets.....

Never thought I’d love a dog like this
BiteyShark · 13/04/2018 15:17

The other day BiteyDog was on his back with DH rubbing his chest and me rubbing the inside of his legs for several minutes. I realised then how much we loved the daft thing and we are definitely his servants Grin

TheCrowFromBelow · 13/04/2018 15:53

@MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 he’s a flatcoat and he is very very lovely and also very very naughty
