Best dog food for bad dog wind!!

Our 5 year old sprinter spaniel has started getting awful wind! Really awful wind!! So bad that it can cause the need for a poo hunt round the house... It’s really embarrassing when friends are over and quite unpleasant!
He eats (and has done since day 1) pedigree chum meat with a supermarket generic dry mixer.
He goes to the toilet ALOT on walks.
I want to change him to dry food but wondered what is best for the gut. It will need to be tasty too as for springer, he can be a fussy sod!!

Raw?

SweepTheHalls · 28/03/2018 17:57

We use www.Tails.com and have found the farting has definitely reduced!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 28/03/2018 18:03

My dog has a sensitive digestive system and we feed him Carnilove which has stopped the upset tummy and he hardly ever farts now.

dementedpixie · 28/03/2018 18:05

Look for grain free

Toooldtobearsed · 28/03/2018 18:14

Raw.
I have two labs, raw fed. No farts, can pick their once (occasionally twice) a day poo up with bear hands if necessary (not that I do.........). And their teeth are perfect. No bad breath and no veterinary cleaning necessary.

I am honestly, hand on heart, not one to bang on, but raw feeding has so many advantages, i dont know why more people dont just try it!

Toooldtobearsed · 28/03/2018 18:15

Bear hands???

Bare !

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 28/03/2018 18:16

Anything that is grain free, like Canidade or Taste of the Wild. More expensive but way better for them.

Raw feeding

BiteyShark · 28/03/2018 18:40

Have you looked on allaboutdogfood.co.uk to compare the brands?

My dog is fussy and also has a sensitive stomach and won't just eat dry food. I feed him millieswolfheart tins of wet with a bit of kibble mixed in for crunch.

Bubble2bubble · 28/03/2018 18:46

Definitely try grain free and maybe give him a probiotic. My dogs practically never fart since they started on Millies Wolfheart.

WeAllHaveWings · 28/03/2018 21:50

If you ate McDonald’s twice a day every day you would fart too! Pedigree chum is a really poor quality food.

Try all about dog food site and find a good grain free kibble (at least 4 out of 5). We have Millie’s wolfheart either countryside or highland and mix in about 1/3 of their salmon and veg and our lab rarely farts, usually only does when he’s had a treat or eaten something outside. It’s seems expensive at £50 a bag, but you don’t feed much (over feeding can cause excess wind and poo too) so it probably will cost less than you pedigree chum per day!

There are some Millie’s he does not tolerate as well, riverside (think it’s the trout) or salmon by itself as is too rich, each dog is different, but Millie’s have lots of different proteins you can try. His poo is also small, firm, very pickupable and only once or sometimes twice a day.

Raw is definately the best food for dogs. However, anything will be better than what he’s being fed now.

agedknees · 29/03/2018 18:58

Forthglade complete wet food. Picking up poo is easy peasy and hardly any farts.

bluebells1 · 29/03/2018 19:09

Please stop with pedigree! It is absolutely horrible for them. I agree with Forthglade. Mine gets a mix of Forthglade wet and Green Dog Grain free. Please use this website to figure out the best food that you can afford.
