Random Q - tips on dealing with poop for a new dog owner

We will get our puppy in a couple of weeks, we are in NZ so its still fairly warm and our council rubbish collection is weekly but its a black bin bag that we keep in the garage... I just cant stomach the thought of putting all those plastic poop bags in there over the week! Does anyone have any tips on managing this part of dog ownership in a warmer climate.

We found our dog mostly poos when out on walks anyway and does very little in our garden. If we do have some we bag it and then when out on a walk the next day we deposit it in the nearest public dog poo bin. Is that not an option for you?

As Fletch80 says. Other than that, I have a separate little plastic lidded box (our council gives them out free for kitchen waste)for the dog poo bags so they don't stink out the main rubbish bag before collection day and their smell is contained. Possibly your local borough council in NZ don't but sure you could buy something similar.

Don't rely on your dog pooing on walks. Mine holds on to it until he gets back home Confused

Can you pick up with a scoop/shovel/bit of loo roll and flush any garden poo? Then dispose of anything he does on a walk before you get home?
