Perfect Fit Harness for dogs that lunge.

Our new rescue Terrier lunges at cars people and dogs. Our trainer has recommended the Perfect fit Harness which has a D ring at the dogs chest. Has anyone used this harness, did it stop your dog lunging? Any tips on using this harness for a nervous dog?

IMO it doesn't stop lunging, but it certainly gives you more control if you are caught offguard. If he's lunging at cars you need something that you are sure he won't escape from, and for this I would always recommend Perfect Fit with a double ended lead

This works well for my rescue, reactive collie because it fits perfectly. It comes in 3 separate pieces (each available in multiple sizes).
The harness itself doesn't prevent lunging but I am more confident that she cannot escape from it.

I brought the perfect fit for my large dog, front clip great for control but the one on the back gave him more control... Like a husky. I'm quite petite, but if u clip the front harness and then the collar that works better. We saw a behaviourist and they explain about being able to control the head, and it's made so much difference. We know use a figure of eight lead, goes around the nose and head and he can't pull or lunge at all. Hope this helps!

It's a slip lead style but has given me so much control.

Obviously, if you've got a runner on your hands it might be best to double lead, use this and clip the lead on the collar too?

I use a front fastening harness (different make) and it does give you more control over pulling... but IME not lunging.

So I use it with a head collar as well, but some people consider those aversive... it's non tightening and my dog is quite happy wearing it so I'm ok with it.

Both together mean I have control of his entire front end... he is considerably larger than a terrier though - so you might find just the harness fine.
