I have lots of training to do with my 2 year old dog but i also need to get his weight down a little .
What would be best to use as treats ?

Depends how keen they are on food. If they will take to low fat treats? Although maybe just some tasty tiny chicken pieces and then adapt meal times accordingly

First things first, little bits of something extra delicious; I normally break the training treats into the smallest bits they'll go into. Dried offal appears particularly delicious. Treats2Sit4 do some reasonably priced dried offal training treats treats2sit4.co.uk/natural-dog-treats-treats2sit4

However, unless you're doing an excessive amount of training, I suspect the weight is more a matter of his core diet and exercise, unless your current training treats are deep fried cheese!

I'm heavily involved in dog training and often use the dog's normal kibble in situations like this. Will he work for his normal food? Just take it out of his allowance for the day Smile

A friend with a guide dog uses yeast tablets as a low calorie food reward.
