Rescue people - which are the good collie rescues please?

I need to find somewhere breed specific for a dog to go....

Lol. I think you will find that a WSD will have paperwork going back 100 years before a BC was recognised as a breed

Christina Most WSD's don't have any papers, unless ISDS registered. Any BC without Kennel club pedigree papers is known as a WSD. Most of mine have been pedigree, however they are all from working ISDS lines not show stock. Please don't tell me my dogs aren't good pets, cause I can tell you they are loved, healthy and happy.
I think you are wrong to say they can never be pets, but I would agree they do need an active knowledgable home with mental stimulation.

Our border collie was from a local farm/working stock, he's now 4yo and has only ever been a pet. It must be hard to generalise as it depends both on the dog's temperament and how they are socialised/trained.

I was going to suggest the Border Collie trust in Staffordshire too, they are near us and we were going to approach them for a rescue before DH lost his heart to a puppy.
