Can I put puppy down anywhere safely to wee?

My puppy has had second injections and can be walked from Wednesday. I'd like to take her into town today to get her a harness. I'm happy to carry her but is it safe to put her down anywhere for a quick wee? I will be out for quite a while including the car journeys.

I wouldn’t risk it personally.

Where could you put the puppy down to wee where you are absolutely 100% positive no other dog has been?

That's kind of the view I'm taking Stella. But there's so much advice about taking them out and about to socialise them by carrying them. I guess the trip is too far overall.

Can you not get your dog's titers tested at the vets? Then you'll know for sure the jabs gave "taken".

I would have no problem puttOMG my puppy down to wee. My only worry is stopping her running off not other dogs. Mine is also “safe” from Wednesday but the whole thing seems a little unscientific to me. Why is it unsafe the day before and safe the day after? 2 weeks seems to be just a tough me that has been made up and then dogmatically stuck to with no real reason behind it.
That’s just me though, do what you feel happy with.

The two weeks is based on titre testing of large numbers of dogs given primary vaccinations and then also challenge with disease.

I'd do it. I was told a week after the second jabs. I just avoided areas around trees and lamp posts etc

Bananarama12 · 29/10/2017 12:28

I really wouldn't worry, there'll be no harm letting her down to go to the toilet.

What do you think will happen? She drops down dead??

She will be absolutely fine

I never vaccinate any of my dogs and always took them out for walks/socialising the day I brought them home.
