I know the wait will be worth it, but I'm getting so impatient!

We're on the hunt for a rescue dog. Have been for bloody ages now.

We're on the waiting list for a withdrawn guide dog, and I'm constantly on Facebook rescue pages. I found a lovely boy on Black Retriever X rescue, but sadly he went to another home. Another dog has come up on that page who is so unbelievably perfect - she is all I can think about. Now they've said they've had over 100 applicants for her.

I'm so pleased there is such a high number of people wanting to rescue, but I feel like we're never going to get a second dog!

Please tell me it will happen one day...

I'm a bit worried because we're having work done on our front garden at the mo, so all the fencing is temporary. I hope we don't fail the home check because of that! Or I hope they don't make us put up permanent fencing before we're allowed to take her home, because we've got a few months worth of work to do out there yet

If your current dog with the foster lady doesn't work out it's probably worth chasing up your Guide Dog rehoming officer regularly as they are incredibly busy - you could also offer to take a dog from another area maybe?

Yes, the gorgeous Pickle is the girl we are bringing home on Thursday if home check goes smoothly on Sunday!

I'm so itchy to have her here with us now. She is all I can think about when I'm out walking with our other dog or playing in the garden! I hope she's happy with us.

I'm typing tentatively until we pass the home check, but I'm assured it's just a formality. I'm still wringing my hands until it's over though!

I feel so lucky to be getting her. I said to her foster mum that I'd been keeping an eye on the rescue page for ages, and although dogs had come up that fitted our criteria, there was just something about Pickle that stole my heart. I'd almost liken it to how I felt when I first met DP - although don't tell him that!

Gin ... Soooooo pleased for you, she looks fab! We've already decided our next dog will be called Pickle in tribute! Lucky you! We lost our lab x collie this summer and our younger dog misses her terribly. So do I ...it was fab being her favourite person in the whole world, especially when the teenagers are being grumps!
