Insuring a French bulldog x Boston terrier

Just having a look at insurance quotes. Do I just put her under x breed? Insurance for bostons and frenchies are ridiculous so I can't see how a mix of the 2 will be so much cheaper.

*insurance prices for bostons and frenchies are ridiculous. Blush. And yes, I know they aren't really ridiculous considering the health issues.

If you do make sure your vet has it down in the record as just being a cross breed as when you make a claim and they get a whiff of either breed you may come unstuck

But you're not lying....it's a cross breed

Depending on the company you go for you may not have a choice but to go for either "French Bulldog cross", "Boston Terrier cross" or whatever the listed portmanteau is. Some companies require you to pick a specific cross once you've selected "crossbreed" and others want you to give the closest breed type.

I'd probably give companies you're considering using a ring and ask them, though in all likelihood they'll probably say if you know what cross your dog is that's what they need to be insured as. Given the breeds involved I definitely wouldn't chance it and risk them refusing to pay out, especially if any issues common to either breed arise. I've no idea how likely it is they would refuse (or even find out) but some companies are absolute sods for doing everything they can to not pay up.

We were told it's just an any old cross breed. They weren't impressed by designer crosses...

Thankyou everyone. Pickle yes that's what they said when I rang. I'm not impressed by designed breeds but I'm glad the insurance is a third of what it'd be for a French Bulldog!
