Best treats for puppy

Just after some advice as to what treats are best for puppy. At the moment only on dried puppy food but shortly to begin training and treats will probably help. I'd rather not buy bags of dog treats if I can help it so I'm considering the mention of other things.
I hear hot dog sausages are good I guess they need to be cooked and then used that day. Does anyone use peanut butter or pate? Any particular types or just off the supermarket shelf? I've heard some dogs can be lactose intolerant - are small pieces of cheese good to use?

Cheese is good in little cubes, what about some small pieces of cooked chicken or ham? Also cocktail sausages as they are cooked and would last longer than a day. X

I use their dried food as a treat, keeps their diet balanced.

We use Liver Cake cut into tiny pieces. I just Googled a recipe, cut into pieces and froze in bags to get out when needed

I use cheese and hot dog sausages cut into small chunks for training outside on walks as they are high value for the dog so more likely to follow the commands.

Inside the house I use a mixture of those you just buy from the supermarket along with some I get from my food supplier Millieswolfheart

Hot dog sausages are already cooked, don't need to do it again!

Variety- cheese one day, hot dog the next. Tiny pieces.

Dried liver and kidney- I freeze it, partially defrost it, slice very thinly, dehydrate it in the oven over a couple of days. It goes black and brittle.

Cheap fish sticks sliced small are good, too.

Our dog trainer swore by tubes of primula with prawn while teaching our dog to walk to heel. You walk with it at your side and slowly squeeze a bit out every now and then.

I make mine, you can buy mini ice cube trays on amazon. Then mix up a tin of sardines/tuna/pilchards with one egg and a bit of smash or flour until you get a very thick paste. Spread into the trays. 5 mins in microwave then tip them onto a baking tray and 10mins in oven. My dog loooooooves them and one tin of fish goes a long way! And it's very cheap.
