What's on my dog's ears...

She scratches them a lot, vet can't find anything wrong. She's treated for mites and fleas and all the other nasties that feast on dogs, I just don't know what's making them scabby.

Any ideas for prevention or treatment?

She's a 1 year old Weimaraner.

Has she been checked for allergies? ears are a common place for those to show themselves.

Mrsmorton · 16/10/2016 18:04

I don't think so. Good question. I know there are endless things to be allergic to, what sort of things are common culprits?

Another vet appointment soon I think!

Thank you

When mine had skin prick tests they tested for certain plants, foods and dust mites...I'm assuming that's because they're the most common rather than just random.

Our grey has a sort of dermatitis on his tummy that looks very similar. If it flares up he has a short course of steroids. Various things make it worse, some pollens.

Poor ears! We have 3 Weims and one of ours gets allergic dermatitis at certain times of the year, it clears up pretty quickly with a short course of steroids.
