Seems like we are getting a red fox lab soon. Hes gorgeous, really dark red. Playful, biddable and leggy.

If he was yours what would you name him. I don't have a picture yet.

Also what do I need to know?

Mungo or Kenny

Any slip or choke lead on a dog that isn't already trained not to pull is unnecessary and cruel. Look at loose lead training videos on you tube, Kiko pup is good.

JaimeLannister · 03/10/2016 21:35

A lead won't stop or teach a dog not to pull, they need to be trained. Do you have any training classes near you? Puppy classes are great fun.

Dementedswan · 03/10/2016 22:19

There's a few, definitely going to puppy training if I can find classes whilst the kids at school.

Red or loki?

My boy learnt to walk on a harness from perfect fit and I found turning round when he pulled worked
Was essential as I'm in a wheelchair he learnt from a puppy

Only now at two and well behaved do I use a slip lead as it is easier for me to put on and off

Training classes are useful even start with a one to one at first .We also used a crate till Hecwas about 8 months old

Red!

Our girl still uses her crate (now 5yrs old) as she loves it and its her space. We just no longer shut the door. It was very good for teaching her to wait-say wait with the hand signal you want to use and open the door-if they don't wait shut it again and say no-wait, and they come out when they do it-she picked it up in a day and it's the most useful command-she evens waits to eat and only eats when given permission, which is tricky for a lab! We found this useful though as she doesn't steal or snatch food from the kids.

Some useful tips, thank you!

Off shopping for our new pup. Ds1 has written a long list Grin
