Two females living together?

Sorry this is something I have no personal experience of.

Does anyone live with two bitches that actually get along?
I hear that two bitches can be a massive problem and should be avoided?
Is it harder to intergrate two bitches than males?

I currently have one dog and one bitch so not an issue but if dog 3 ever came along I would love another female but not at the cost of upsetting the current boss of the house

We have 2 bitches and they're good together. One is top dog and that's fine.

I had two bitches - one died just a couple of months ago. The older one was about seven when the younger one arrived, aged about three.
There was never a cross word and they just grew closer and closer.
Mine are lurchers, maybe that makes a difference, but I agree it probably depends on the dog.

I have two bitches. They get along in the main part but do fight occasionally I have to say. One is defiantly the top dog but sometimes the other seems to want to take her place. Sometimes they can go months without a scrap but this month it's actually got to the point that I'm considering re homing one as I got bit twice in the cross fire. Which is all terribly sad. But that said she came to us because of fighting with the home with another bitch. I honestly think though it depends on the dogs. Mine are a Lhasa apso and a shih tzu so little dogs.

We've always had bitches growing up, as many as 5 at times.
We only had one bad event but that was a nasty, nasty dog of my dm's. I don't think the sexes were to blame it was the dog! It scruffed my little dog by the neck and shock it round. My sister took the little dog on after that as we couldn't risk it happening again.
Funnily enough, my dm bought another dog of the same breed when the other one died, that's a nasty git too, not that do would agree

Not any more... but I was at an all girls boarding school for quite a while and there were more than 2!

My two are both bitches. The smaller one (sheepdog) bosses the larger one (black Lab/sheepdog/Great Dane) around a bit, but it's never come to blows :) They seem to enjoy each other's company.

Maybe I will stick to boys they seem more easy to please

Depends on the dogs.

We had a spaniel and lab that were so close that when the lab had pups and the spaniel had a false pregnancy and was producing milk, the lab let the spaniel into the whelping box and she was helping feed the pups!

It's taken a year but our two get along wonderfully now. They have 'sisterly' grizzles occasionally, but they're getting on well.

The first week, existing girl ended up with staples in her bumcheeks rear upper thigh despite constant supervision. I felt awful for her, but she's a hard nut.

It's been much harder adding a male dog to the two bitches since. He was an unplanned boy, and YoungGirl still will not get on with him. OldGirl get along with him wonderfully

We've had three bitches who got along wonderfully - they really loved each other and spent time washing each other and always cuddled up together to sleep (each had her own bed, but they all squashed into one).

We also had two other bitches who HATED each other - don't know why. TBH the bigger one would have been okay but the little 'un just wouldn't rest, and constantly attacked her knowing that if she responded we would intervene (because otherwise there would have been carnage, quite literally). It got to the stage where we couldn't keep them in the same room. They had to live in different parts of the house and be walked separately. It was very sad - individually they were super dogs - very loving and affectionate with the family, with the cats and with our daughter's (male) dog - but with each other - KABOOM!

Our present two are mostly okay but have occasional grumbles. We make sure that we keep treats and toys under close supervision as that is what causes problems. Otherwise they cuddle up and play together very well.

We have 2 bitches, they are great together. Oldest one is very submissive, younger will probably be top bitch when she matures fully. They are both mongrels with staff as main ingredient, not sure if this is relevant.
