He is so not a food dog.

My springer has never been a good obsessed dog. He can take it or leave it.

I can sit and eat my dinner on my lap and he sits next to me on the sofa and doesn't even sniff my dinner.

Today I went out with my son and when i got back I realised that my son had left the panty door open.

My dog has free range of the house when I'm not there. so he was in that room the whole time.

He had not even touched anything. Bread, crisps, crisps. All still untouched.

I will never get over how this dog will not go for food. It's weird lol

I have a collie like that but our spaniel eats first and asks questions second, we think that might be because he's been a stray and has never lost that drive to eat everything he can get his jaws on in order to survive. They both ignore us at human mealtimes though, we were very firm in never feeding them scraps from the table so they've never asked.

Impressive. Our 13yo lab would not take anything from a worksurface and is trained not to interact with us at mealtimes but an open larder might be a temptation so far. Based on his eating of doormat, carpet in crate, various plants and bits of grass our 12 wk old puppy would have eaten himself silly (as indeed the lab did when young - eating a full loaf of bread).

Our lab is like this (yes, you read that right - LABRADOR!). She's a rescue and although she tucks into her meals and takes training treats happily, she won't take anything else. She's quite picky about who's allowed to give her food too. She won't take anything that DS gives her at all.

Rose I can't pretend to take the credit! She came to us as a terrified ex puppy farm breeder, she used to be terrified of food / eating around people so god knows what they did to her

If it helps, my boy (who we had from a pup) was an absolute nightmare for food. Just a few of his achivements: A 500g block of cheese, a 2lb liver cake, a blue tit (still live - he swallowed it whole), a cupcake straight out of my friends hand, the whole of DH's dinner when he dared to close his eyes long enough to sneeze... the list goes on!

I've just threatened to skin the JR because he swiped my bagel and drunk my cup of tea while I was running my vomiting five year old to the loo.
Cheeky bugger.

He would never take anything when anyone's watching but he's whip quick the second your back is turned.
My staff however is a gentleman and never steals

Candledog isn't in the least motivated by food. If he doesn't fancy his food, he leaves it. Training was a nightmare, as he took the first bit of sausage cheerfully, second bit reluctantly and refused any more thereafter! He probably would steal something if the cupboard was left open and he could reach it. he adores things like custard and ice cream, carrots, green beans and sometimes a bit of pepper.
