Puppy going to the toilet as soon as he comes inside!

We've had puppyTorres for 2.5 weeks now and he seemed to be slowly catching on to the toilet training thing. Now however we can spend 20 minutes outside with him using the same words (the neighbours must think I'm demented standing outside saying 'hurry up' over and over again) and as soon as we give up he runs straight past us to under the dining table to have a poo. We can pick up mid poo and take him back outside but he often forgets what he was doing and spends another happy 10 minutes sniffing about and only when we give up again will be finish off. Under the dining table. We've tried puppy pads but they are merely a great source of fun to him, he likes to shred them and/or flee about the living room with them hanging out of his mouth. We use the spray that supposedly gets rid of the smell they are attracted to but as he keeps going back to the same place in not convinced on its efficacy.

Any suggestions? I know he's still only little (10.5 weeks) and maybe it will get better as we're able to wak him from next week but any tips to save my sanity in the meantime?

Why are you saying hurry up?

When your puppy wakes up, or pauses from what ever it's doing, you will soon learn to read the signs.

Take it outside, let it wander around and only when it starts to pees or poos you say "busy busy." This is not a command. It is simple a noise your dog will start to over time associate with reliving its self.

You will only ever be able to use it a suggestive action, but never ever try to do so before six months of using it only when the dog has already started it's business. Don't let anyone say it when the dog is not pooling or peeing.

Get rid of the pads far to confusing for a dog to then differentiate between ok places to perform.

You want your dog to be successful, so watch it like a hawk, and keep going out with it, and only come in once it has performed. Do not tell it off for messing inside, that is your failed not it's.

I was using hurry up as a suggested phrase for him to associate with going outside. I don't tell him off for going inside at all. I know it's not his fault.

When you take him in from outside if he hasn't been pick him up carry him round for about five minutes and then go back outside to try again. It stops him failing. I would only spend ten minutes outside tbh then pick him up. As pp says only use the prompt when he's doing something at least initially, later on when he knows the link then you can use it as a way of get him to toilet more quickly.
