What is the best thing you've ever bought for your dog? Ever!

Pratical wise it would be her Hotterdog fleece jumper which we put on her when she's had a swim

Fun wise it would be her massive Kong which I give her when she won't leave me alone. I put almost too large treats in there so she struggles to get them out. The noises of frustration she makes really make me laugh Grin

Clg199 · 21/12/2015 13:39

A reindeer antler chew. He isn't a particularly persistent dog and I was worried he might give up on it. He loves it - it's like catnip for dogs. They're not cheap, about £10-15, but they last for months, keep him very occupied and keep his teeth clean. He's on his third or fourth one now - best buy ever!

CMOTDibbler · 21/12/2015 13:44

DDog1 - his Milgi fleece coats as he is rarely seen without one.
DDog2 - tuff toy snake which he carries round with him. Only toy that survives his urge to ded all toys

knobblyknee · 21/12/2015 14:29

A cows pelvis and leg. He couldnt believe it was all his.

WeAllHaveWings · 21/12/2015 14:32

Good quality food (no more smelly farts!)

tabulahrasa · 21/12/2015 14:58

Insurance - which is boring I know, sorry, lol, but I worked out the other day that he's on about 14k of vets bills in his 3 years.

Toys...um, the squeaky spacehopper wasn't good value for money as it lasted an hour, but the amusement I got from him being completely bemused by the noise was worth every penny.

Betrayedbutsurvived · 21/12/2015 15:02

Memory foam bed. He loves it.

PersonalClown · 21/12/2015 15:14

Second the memory foam bed. Count Staffula was starting to get some back and hip pain after sleeping in a bean bag that he claimed.
Found out that he was sinking through to the floor and getting a bit stiff from laying on the cold hard ground.

Had no problems since getting a large memory foam bed. He still prefers our beds or the sofa!

TrionicLettuce · 21/12/2015 15:17

Their Indi-Dog Houdini Ultra harnesses. Best things ever for pointy dogs, wouldn't use anything else now.

sparechange · 21/12/2015 15:21

A cave bed. She adores it and is happy to snuggle up in it and sleep

LimeJellyHead · 23/12/2015 10:23

Chuckit Ultra Ball for our ball mad, toy destroying terrier. Then when he was older, Gripper Socks for stability. Equafleece jumper for our cold old girl. All 3 items have been a god send.

budgiegirl · 23/12/2015 21:12

A very sad looking red cuddly duck with a Christmas Santa hat on. It was the last one in the shop, tatty and unloved. But I bought it because I knew my dog would take pity on it. He carries it everywhere, sleeps with it, and is so gentle, licking it to clean it.

banff82 · 24/12/2015 22:42

Equafleece jumpers. They have two each and they are a godsend for manky mud loving spaniels in the winter. Dog Games fleece harnesses are also excellent; well fitting, sturdy and comfortable. Insurance and good quality, natural food are obvious must-haves.

Toy wise I can't really think of anything outstanding, they tend to destroy most things and if they can't destroy it they lose interest. Kongs are good, they have a floating Kong Wubba too which is fun at the beach. A good old tennis ball is the only thing guaranteed to get them going every single time though.

I bought them each a lovely, and chuffing expensive, raised bed with memory foam toppers. 3 years later said beds still look great - in fact good as new because the little gits prefer to sleep on the sofas.

Just remembered, the non-spill road refresher bowl for the car was a good buy.

MY couch and MY bed

abetterhairbrushisneeded · 28/12/2015 09:08

Millies dog food and ruffwear harness. Plus a £3 6 ft lead. All the dog beads and blankets and toys and chewy things fell by the way side but these three things are a hit with both of us.

patterkiller · 28/12/2015 09:14

This. They love it. And it never smells, I hose it every few weeks and it takes minutes to dry.

Best buy EVER for you dog!
Sadik · 28/12/2015 09:25

Accumulated rather than bought, but a dozen really large bath towels. We have one laid out on the floor in kitchen/sitting room/dining room, and ddog lays on them rather than the carpet, then we can just change them a couple of times a week.

We have another selection of smaller towels on the sofas & the cats sleep on them (well, actually, at least one cat prefers to sit in the middle of the huge dog towel & get trodden on, but she's an awkward bugger)

(DDog does have a bed, but he won't use anything not dead flat!)

Bubble2bubble · 28/12/2015 10:41

Indigo collar tags. Until then we lost at least one name tag a week. Best Invention Ever.
Hotter fleeces for damage limitation on the furniture when dogs are soaking wet.
Perfect fit harnesses.
Halti double ended leads.
Raised beds - you can hoover underneath without moving them :)

29PaddingtonSt · 28/12/2015 10:49

Ruffwear harness and his crate which he loves. Put his crate away the other day to make room over Christmas and to see how he did without it. He was miserable so it's now back in situ.

Readysteadyknit · 28/12/2015 10:52

Dog ball thrower for little dog.

Huge memory foam bed for greyhound

TWOBANANAS · 28/12/2015 11:22

Just bought an Indigo collar tag, thanks for the recommendation!

King squeaky balls he loves them

ChairRider4 · 28/12/2015 15:18

That's Kong

fourpawswhite · 28/12/2015 15:21

A fabric foldable crate from Amazon. So cosy. It came with a fleecy blanket and I added more. I take it (and her) everywhere. It is so portable and she loves it. She actually asks to be let in if someone forgets to open it. It also straps into the car and you never hear a peep from her. Best thing ever.

eggsinthefridge · 28/12/2015 15:21

A bath bag!

It's basically a towel bag you zip your dog into after a bath- no more dripping wet dog. He hates the hair drier, and loves this. He will jump into it after a bath and wait for you to zip him into it. He's happy for a few hours and just goes for a sleep. Best thing ever bought!
