Dog won't play with other dogs

I love my 2 year old boy pug. I want him to have friends but he won't just play. It's constant sniffing of bums until the other dog gets annoyed and barks or snaps at him. Will having him 'done' help this?

Not necessarily. Some dogs just don't want to play with other dogs. It isn't essential for a happy and fulfilled life. As long as he has his humans, that is the main thing.

My dog doesn't play either. She is a total wuss and will just remove herself from other dogs and sit quietly, waiting for the fuss to be over. Today we got amongst 5 other dogs (I knew one of the owners) and she didn't like it all.

She's always been like that. Though if a dog is smaller than her and even wussier than her, she will sometimes engage.

No, but letting him hang out with another good-humoured dog who has a playful nature will help his social skills.

Even when my dog liked other dogs he never played with them. Some dogs just don't play with other dogs.

Same here. She's got her ball and she happy with that. If another dog steals her ball she will stand there looking at me in a 'get my ball back' way; clearly I'm the solver of all life's little problems.

Occasionally we will meet a dog she wants to play with. I remember one little dog she really liked that we used to meet from time to time, she would even push her ball towards him to show him she wanted to play. He was a lovely gentle natured dog and slightly smaller than her.

I guess she's just a girl who knows what she likes.

One of my dogs does not play. Hes not interested. At all. That's how he is.

My girl loves to play, she loves other dogs.
