Dealing with dog poo in the park

I tend to walk my dog in one particular park. Lots of dogs use it, and the owners are generally great, and friendly.

There are a few though who are starting to annoy me. They pay scant regard to their dog, who often is some distance behind them as they are glued to their phone screens. Another one "walks" his golden retriever and often I see him pottering along at the other end of the park - completely out of sight.

Needless to say there is a fair amount of dog poo that doesn't get picked up.

At times I've seen these dogs poo and their owners have been oblivious. I always call them over and tell them they have something to pick up.

What I want to do is rip they head off and shovel the dog poo down their neck. As this would get me in to trouble, would it be acceptable for me to simply explain that if they fail to keep an eye on their dog I will report them for fouling?

What would you do?

I think all you can do is continue to do what you do now ,I wouldn't threaten to report as you will probably find that they will reciprocate , if you do want to report just do so without telling them . I've reported someone local for dog fouling ,she is well known to the dog warden and I'm not sure if she has been fined but she has been warned ( apparently) yet I know she still only picks up if someone is actually watching her .

There is a Facebook group for dog walkers at this park and I'm a member. I might raise the issue on that.

I have often called across to someone in the park and asked them if they need a poo bag if their dog has pooed and they're not making any move to pick it up.

I do it in a very non-confrontational way and I usually find that they will take the bag and pick up the poo.

Agree with pp, I wouldn't tell them you'll report them as some people could get nasty.

Unfortunately, you don't always see the actual act. I was walking my dog in fields near my house today and it was disgusting, there was poo everywhere. It's horrible I don't want to tread in it and I don't want my dog treading in it either.
