Millie's Wolfheart (and smaller breeds)

My sample packs have just arrived, which I was rather excited about (having heard so many good things about it). Pup has eaten it, but over an extended period, as the kibble is still a bit big for his tiny (but very sharp!) teeth. He's 4 and a half months old. They recommended the utility and agility ones, as they're flatter with a hole in the middle, but still quite big for him. Sometimes there's a lot to be said for having a smaller version for pups ...
How did your small dog get on with it?

My puppy cockapoo has Millie's and manages fine. At first he spent longer chewing it but now wolfs it down. I do believe you can add some warm water to it , leave it to soak in and it makes a gravy. . HTH

We tried with our shih txu cross for four months. Because soooo many small dog parents said their little ones love it just fine.

After a glut of sample packs being wasted, and four months of Ddog trying to lick, suck,sniff, soak in mouth but not be able to eat a meal - we unwillingly chucked the idea.mi remember being very disappointed as the brand I still believe is great.

But we moved to an equally high protein, grain free brand specifically made tiny for small and mini breeds and it's been months she's just fine.n

We use 50 gms evolution grain free kibble for small breeds in the morning. It's the premium brand from pets at home. High protein.
And wainwrights salmon and potato grain free 1/4 of a can for dinner.

Also to add for me the decision to finally give up on Millie's, having tried a variety of flavours, soaking, grinding whatnot - actually ended up becoming a bit of an emotional situation. I think id worked myself up to believe Millie's is Best. Nothing else will do. On hindsight it cost my pup 5-9 months of age spent trying to eat something she simply couldn't.

Dieu I have fed my working cocker on Canagan since he was 12 weeks, it's high protein and grain free and really seems to suit him, they do a 'small' dog version that is just a smaller kibble with the same ingredients, but as 'likealaugh* says, adding water (I used warm) makes it easier for puppies.
