My dog has a runny nose

This is something I've never experienced before and not sure whether it's one of those things that's a case of "keep and eye on it and if it's not gone within x days go to vet" or "OMG go to vet now!". Dog seems fine in himself, just snorts out a string of clear/pale yellow snot (just like I'm doing at the mo...bloody cold!) every now and then. TIA.

I'd call your vet for advice. Could be a lot of things, including a simple upper respiratory infection and some much more worrying things.

If you think about how sensitive dogs noses are it must be 100 times more miserable for them than it is for us to have an inflamed nasal passages, so it's always worth getting these things checked out properly.

Thanks Moose. (Quick update) I called the vet and they said not to worry unless he starts behaving differently (e.g. losing appetite etc), so I'm keeping a close eye on him.

Keep an eye on his eyes for flitting as it can be a fit which is something that can be paired with being snotty.

Mine has a runny nose, vet said it's hayfever so she's on Piriton now :-)

I'll keep an eye out for that ChattySad

Fudge, apart from the runny nose does your dog have any other symptoms?

I'd have said perhaps hayfever too, but keep an eye out for a cough or any other symptoms of respiratory illness just in case.
