Does anyone know what would be an acceptable rate to pay a dog sitter coming to live in your own home?

I am going on holiday for 10 days and my very kind cleaning lady has offered to come and live in my house and look after my two dogs (spaniel and mongrel) and my mum's two dogs (spaniels) whilst we are away as they have never been in kennels. She has said that she would do it for nothing as she feels that it will be like a holiday for her to stay in the house (big garden, pool, full use of everything in the house). However, I feel happier paying her to do this but I have no idea what the going rate is for a dog sitter in your own home. She will bring her own food/bedding. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

I use kennels for my 2 dogs and that costs £24 a night, just to give you a rough idea of what she would be saving you.

We pay ours £25 per day. Plus petrol money for her initial journey to our house, and back to hers at the end.

We also pay £25 per day, same as Bowlersarm. However we have sadly recently lost her, well not literally you understand.

In a few weeks time we are using a couple who we found on UK House Sitters and that's totally free. I hope it works out, a tad nervous!

I don't send mine to kennels cunny - they have a live in dog sitter

lavendersun · 21/03/2015 07:34

Mine only asks for £20 a day but we pay her £25 - she is our walker too, although we only use her 2 or 3 times a month on average. Lovely woman.

lavendersun · 21/03/2015 07:35

Why would she bring her own bedding Confused. I always leave a bed with newly changed sheets and clean towels and much cleaner than normal (not hard) house.

The ones I've seen have a daily fee and ask for the fridge to be full on arrival.
