<boak> discussing dog eating poop

Am sat here covering my face, have posted before and tried what people suggested. My lab x collie likes to eat my other dogs poop, he doesn't eat his own. I try and pick it up as soon as she has pooped but this is almost impossible as our back door is left open all day and I can't follow her around with a poop bag all day. As soon as my other dog has pooped my other dog will eat it, he then runs indoors breathing poop breath over everyone.

We have tried tablet from amazon and have tried pineapple in their food but as most lab' she is willing to eat anything.

Is there anything else I can try?

And 'no' there is no medical reason he does is, he has a varied diet is healthy and eats plenty. It is a habit which started because my other dog was eating her own poop, he saw her doing it and now gets there before her so he doesn't miss out.

Sorry if your eating your breakfast Grin

My dog used to eat cat poop, then puke it up. The most disgusting thing ever. Ever. I feel your pain.

Nothing will stop a determined poo eater except clearing it up straight away and working on a strong 'leave' cue. Both of which require you to shut the door, let them out regularly and follow them around with a poo bag.

The times I have caught him and shouted 'leave' he has run towards me with the turd in his mouth Grin, he does know 'leave' but for some reason would rather ignore me when it comes to this.

I will keep trying and try and pick up as much as I can.

My dog does this. I did try using a basket muzzle but he hated it so much I couldn't carry on. I'm now just hyper vigilant on walks and scream "NO" like a fishwife if he approaches any poo. I walk him off lead so its difficult.

He doesn't tend to eat his own though on one particular day I was watching TV in bed and dd let him in from the garden and he came charging up with a big turd in his mouth, jumped on the bed and spat it out on my chest!!

Close the door and let them out one at a time to poo.
Or perhaps there's a reason you have to leave the door open all day?

Luckily he doesn't do it when we are out ( it's only my other dogs poo that he will eat and only does it at home ), we have been trying to walk at the right time so my other dog doesn't poop in the garden.
