Dog diagnosed with stomach tumour, heartbroken

Took him to the vets as he was having fits and laying in the garden in the rain, turns out he has a stomach tumour, they're fairly certain it's spreading quickly and I'm truly heartbroken, got him a playmate a few months ago because my old mastiff died of cancer and he wasn't coping and now she'll be by herself, I ended up sobbing in the vets Sad

Oh no I'm so sorry, sending you hugs.

Made, I am so sorry.
Is he still with the vet, or have you brought him home? It is a horrible thing to have to face and deal with, but he has given you so much joy and comfort through the years, you now need to do the last, kindest thing you can for him.
I have been through similar in the past year, so know how you feel. It is shit. But, you will move on.
We can laugh about my old girls funny ways and enjoy the memory of her now, and I have a new boy to fill the void.

You WILL get there, but in the meantime, I will be thinking of you and wish you all the best.

I brought him home with me so he could have some tea. I'm dreading making the appointment Sad

Jade, I am so sorry. But you did the best and kindest thing you could have done for him. He simply fell asleep.
You will hurt, of course you will, but it does get better and you and his girlfriend can be there for each other.

A while ago I put a poem on here that I thought was wonderful. I don't know if it is still here, will look. If so, when you are ready, click the link and read. I thought it was beautiful and summed up everything I would like to tell you now, but don't have the words.

Take care xx

So sorry jade

You are so very kind and brave to make this decision for him what a lucky dog to have had you as an owner. He won't forget you and all the love you gave him.

Thanks
Owllady · 20/09/2014 14:17

Of course you have done the right, it doesn't make it any easier for you though :(
I'm so sorry

Tootyfilou · 20/09/2014 15:37

So very sorry for your loss, what a horrible shock. It's a terrible thing to have to do, we went through this in Febuary and still cannot quite believe the speed of events.
You sound a wonderful owner... I have read many of your posts.
Be kind to yourself and allow as much time as you like to grieve.
Thinking of you ((hug))
