How do I get the smell of dog poo out of the car?

Took the dog for a walk at the weekend, in a hurry to get home, chucked everything in the boot - including the dog poo in a bag that we'd picked it up in. Still in a hurry, left everything in the boot when we got home - including the dog poo.
Got into the car today and dear god, it stinks! For someone that has sinus problems and limited sense of smell even I was . Smell of stale garbage. This evening DH realises and on investigating finds a nicely fermented shit in the boot.
How do we get rid of the smell? Is there something that will neutralise it? Can't use strong air fresheners due to aforementioned sinus trouble and obvs can't keep the doors open to air as is parked out the front.
Any ideas welcome!

there is a brilliant spray, you can only get it from pet shops. It isn't cheap. It is called Simple Solution. It got dog diarrhea smell and stain out of cream carpet.

i think if yo treat the place the bag was, and then drive along with all windows open it should work!

Treat the area with a solution of white vinegar & water , it neutralises just as well as expensive cleaners.

Thank you both, just the thought of the smell makes me feel ill!

from my experience, the specialist sprays have enzymes in them which digest and remove the pooh. One spray and leave, so if you can afford it, I personally would buy the spray!
