Can an unvaccinated puppy be around other vaccinated puppies?

So i'm picking up my puppy on saturday, next door have a puppy that is fully vaccinated. I was thinking it would be a good idea for socialisation if my puppy played with theirs. Do i need to wait until after her jabs?

Yes, you have to wait- if their puppy is walking outdoors, it can still bring in nasties that your puppy will have no immunity to.

You can bring those same nasties in on your shoes......

After doing a bit of googling, it appears that is no hard and fast answer actually. I've just read this interesting article which has some suggestions. Personally, I took my puppy out and about in my handbag Grin, which is a compromise suggestion made here, but the best thing is perhaps to do some more research online and decide what you are comfortable with.

No, you don't have to wait. Your unvaccinated puppy can play with vaccinated dogs and puppies in a secure garden or similar. It shouldn't be out on the street though, so carry it in public places.

Ok thank you. We would let the puppies play together in my home or my neighbours at first and once my pup has had her jabs we'd be taking them across the road to the field together. Smile can't wait until tomorrow!
