Why is my dog's coat greasy and dull?

My 9 year old GSD has recently lost his shine. His coat is dull, and looks dusty and feels greasy.

I admit I haven't brushed him in a while, but brushing hasn't helped recently. He hasn't been 'shiny' for months, regardless of when I brush him.

He does go to hydrotherapy once a fortnight - he always has a good rinse afterwards, and sometimes we wash his smelliest bits (trousers and chest) with a sensitive skin dog shampoo - but could that be the cause?

I'm not changing his food, as he's been on this food for the last 4 years or so, and since having a twisted gut last year I don't want to mess around with what he eats.

Is there anything I can do to bring back his shine?
