Diarrhoea and gunky eyes after op - normal?

Hoping one of the vets on here can reassure me ..

Basilpup (7 month old Toller) was neutered on Thursday - after being utterly miserable for 24 hours he's now back to his normal bouncy self apart from two things. His poo is really revoltingly sloppy and stinks to high heaven and his eyes are very gunky, neither of which was a problem before surgery

Do I need to take him back to the vet again before his check-up next weekend or are these normal post-surgery effects? He's eating the same as normal and I'm giving him some pro-biotic natural yoghurt in his kong which he thinks is yummy

Sorry to hear this BB. Hope things improve, sympathies to you too - clearing up really runny poo is a horrid job.

If he seems ok in himself, I'd call the vet tomorrow morning for advice.

I think upset stomachs are common after anaesthetic, but would have thought it should have settled down by now. As for gunky eyes, there's a lot of it about, my two have both just been treated for them as part of their upper respiratory infection and given he'll have been in the vet kennels and possibly exposed to other poorly dogs it's worth getting him checked out.

Neither are things we experinced afterwards.

It can't hurt to at least ring for advice. Mine has had conjunctivitis this week too.

Our pup was neutered 10 days ago, and the day after the op his poo was horrendous. Took him to the vet and they thought it might be a reaction to the anaesthetic, which is quite common I think, but as pup had slightly raised temperature he was given antibiotics, dog equivalent of Imodium and was put on chicken and rice diet. The Imodium pretty much worked immediately.
Pup didn't have gunky eyes though. Might be an idea to check with vet to ensure your dog does not have an infection.

I would give the vet a ring basildon, been a bit too long now for my thinking to be operation related.
