It was bonkers as conkers. Very clever some of it, but it wasn't clear how keen the dogs were on being dyed bright yellow or having a squid shaved into their head. I didn't know such things even happened

Yes I posted on chat. It did cross my mind that the dogs had been drugged, no way would mine stand still for 2 hours whilst being primped and preened.

I groomed my poodle cross yesterday (I say 'groomed', I basically shaved him to 1/2" all over his body and scissor trimmed his face and legs) and he stood very prettily for me. He is a total attention tart and adores being fussed, so that bit didn't seem odd to me. Not sure how he'd cope with being dyed, though. When the rescue bloke was dying his dog's feet he wrapped foil around its legs. DH got worried he was going to bake it.

My SBT loves fuss whilst lying on his back on my lap. He runs a mile when its bathtime once a year after his holiday at the kennels. Mmm baked poodle!

Seriously weird, but remember that Americans have toddlers in beauty pageants. Poor dogs.

Its no weirder than breeding a dog that will have health problems just so that it has a desired aesthetic
