I would like to read further about dog behaviour, I have every puppy training and dog trick book going, but I would like to dig a bit deeper now.

I have tried searching Mnet, in The Doghouse for threads with lists of recommended books, but I am clearly doing something wrong, as, whatever I search, I don't get the lists I look for

I am sure Ian Bradbury was mentioned? Anyone else?

I could look on Amazon reviews too, but it can be a bit of a minefield.

If anyone would just give me a few recommendations, I would be grateful.

Start with "The Culture Clash" by Jean Donaldson. I also like Victoria Schade, John Bradshaw, and Ray and Lorna Coppinger.

If you're really keen, I can thoroughly recommend Sarah Whitehead's Training courses - I did the foundation behaviour one and it really is fascinating: www.cleverdogcompany.com/education-courses.html - they are distance training and great for dog owners as well as instructors.

No problem. You might need to take some of the John Fisher book with a bit of salt as I think he wrote that one before he completely abandoned pack theory. Still an interesting read though.

Wow, what a comprehensive list, it would take me some serious reading time to get through all those books. Nevertheless, really useful, thanks, I have put in a join request to the group.

The Culture Clash and In Defence of Dogs would have been my first suggestions as well. :) Control Unleashed is also a good read, more agility orientated but useful general stuff in there as well.

Don't Shoot The Dog ought to be in there too I'd say :)
