MY husband think giving our dog back is the best option

we have had our dog over a year and she was a lot of work when we rescued at 6ish months she had a tough start in life and was handed back to rescue, but in the last month or so dog is regressing not going to bed at night having to be encouraged then whining and then went onto scratching at doors and then eventually getting into rooms , dog also seems to have anxiety attacks and we dont know what to do we have had broken sleep for weeks

sorry posted too soon , dog was crated but would whine and try and get out so we moved to a bed in the hall we have the vet next week and another behaviourist appointment soon, we are all shattered my husband doesn't think we can do our best for the dog and if we get no better with vet advice and behaviourist advice the dog has to go back I just dont know what to do for the best

Do you know why the dog whines? Does she need toilet, does she want company? What have you tried with sleeping arrangements? What is she like in a crate in your bedroom? Or in her bed in your bedroom? If either of those settle her I would prefer to let her sleep this way rather than return her to the rescue,

Could you get part exchange on a goldfish?

we have no idea why she is whining she didnt like the crate at all she came crate trained which i think meant just left to whine we tried for a couple of weeks to ignore her , behaviorist suggested we took her out which we did she has been in the hall months fine, I dont know if the wind has spooked her or something and that is why she is unhappy and anxious we did try having her in the room with us last week for 2 nights but she just dug at the carpet we have wood everywhere else might try the crate in our room , I dont think DH is talking sending her back to the rescue right away as he is really good with her but we dont know if the behaviourist will be able to help, I do let her in the livingroom some nights like last night eventually as she had been at doors for a while, we are just exhausted she also seems to be chasing shadows which are not there, she is just a ball of anxiety and we dont know what to do to help her, she isn't our first dog either we have had rescues before so we do sort of have an idea about dogs

Try Adaptil collars/Zylkene tablets, they work wonders with many stressy dogs.

I would play around with the sleeping arangements to find what suits. When you say that she digs the carpet, is it just for a few minutes until she settles, or all night long?

I'm glad you've got a vet's appointment next week - a change in behaviour could be a symptom of a medical problem - not saying that's particularly likely from what you've said, but needs checking.

is she worn out enough. Lots of walks and runs, throwing ball for her etc

she was up and down digging at the carpet I had to tell her to stop a few times during the night, she gets walked twice a day a shorter walk in the morning and a long walk in the afternoon my dds take it in turns most days and my dh on his days off, I do training with her during the day we have a Mat that i use and she is played with, we cant let her run off lead there is nowhere safe around here and she is scared of cars so if she hears one she bolts.

I might leave the livingroom open tonight she pants and drools some nights I never know what is best reassurance or ignoring her It as if she is having an anxiety attack, . yes i want to get her checked over that is why i phoned the vet and if she has anxiety problems which is obvious she has then they might be able to give us something for her, she did have a pheramone (sp)collar when we got her from rescue centre didnt calm her was the tips the beahviorist gave us that calmed her down she was jumping and biting in the evening when we got her,

Hello sorry you are having trouble with your dog its very hard when your tired.
One of my dogs 9 year old jrt became very unsettled as soon as it got dark just after the fireworks this year,he has never been scared before.About 4 o clock he would start shaking,drooling his tail would go In between his legs he couldn't settle.
I've had to completly change his routeen,he used to have just one walk 1.5 hours in morning.He now also has one 5 min at lunch time and 20 mins before tea.
Then in the evening he settles as soon as his covered by a blanket.
He sleeps with me anyway but its stopped all the figetting ECT.
It turned out that it was a wizzy firework that scared him not a bang.

oh my goodness FIREWORKS it was the winter last year that she started objecting to the cage she was terrified this year too poor girl may still be jumpy and anxious with unexpected noises and tbh it could be anything oh I really hadn't though about it now to try and work out a way to re settle her

It could well be the fireworks which have unsettled her. Poor pooch, but if it is that then hopefully its something that can be managed.

maybe I am hoping the behaviourists gets back to me over the weekend or next week and we also have the vet , I just dont know what to do tonight I think as i said i might leave the livingroom door open she likes to lie on the rug which she doesnt dig at just my carpet, I think my husband is devastated at the thought of rehoming he is just at odds what to do and tired i expect, thank you i tried to chat to him today abut it but got a bit choked up which doesnt help does it

My nervous dogs regressed during fireworks and I made den for them and they now seem much better it is sometimes a case of working out what has spooked them the sensitive ones can really get upset. One of mine has started avoiding the hallway and me and my dh realised it was because she had been running past and I had come out of a room and spooked her. Is she a working bbc by any chance if so lead walking may not be cutting it for her and this may be contributing to her frustration or anxiety.
