how many feeds per day for 14 week old pup

Hi Im not too sure how many times i shoudl be feeding my little shih tzu/spaniel now? She started off on 4 tiny meals so i obv need to stop that. Any ideas? All the doggy sites give me conflicting advice!! Thanks

I moved to three meals a day and then as the pup got older I moved to two main meals and a small snack in between. I also have one of those food dispenser so that really helped.

We've been told 4 meals until 4 months - our pup is 3.5 months and still on 4 meals

3 or 4. I was told you could move to three once the pup was 3 months but pup had a sensitive stomach and did better on 4 for a bit longer.
Small,frequent meals are much easier for them to digest

We were on 4 feeds up to 16 weeks then advised to move to 3 feeds which we did yesterday. We were feeding at 730, 1130, 4 & 8pm.

Now feeding at 730, 1230 & 5pm. So a bit of spreading feeds out and also dropping final feed. Only problem was last night - first day on new regime- we had a horrendous evening. Minty was really unsettled and hyper (which he is often anyway) but we wondered if he was missing his 8pm meal so gave him and extra half meal. I think we need to phase his food changes more gradually as he is massively food motivated. If we stand near the place where we weigh his food out around an hour onwards before a mealtime he will bark at us and is clearly asking for his meal!

So maybe drop feeds gradually and see how it goes?

Hi, thanks for all the advice thats great. Think i will stick to the small 4 feeds for a while longer then phase one meal out. Really don't want her barking all nigth if she is hungry Mintchickchick thanks for that tip :)

My pup is almost 16 weeks and still on 4 feeds a day, she gets 3 kibble meals then tripe about 8pm
