Hi I wrote a thread yesterday about my growling puppy aged 16 weeks. there has been an extreme about of growling today and Ive noticed for the second day that he has slightly runny poo with blood in. He has this when we first got him and I took him to the vets who said there was nothing wrong, but gave him anti-biotics and chicken&rice for 3 days. He was also growling at that time. It cleared up, but now its back. What is it??? Do I need to go to the vets again and spend another £64 which is what it cost last time. He is on his normal food which was given by the breeder. Im wondering if his growling is connected somehow and he's not feeling on top form.

I would always take a dog to the vet if there's blood in the poo - particularly if it's persistent. I'd take a sample (need only be a tiny amount) for them to get tested. My late dog suffered with bloody poo and it turned out to be pancreatitis (not saying that's what your pup has, it could be any number of things). Different antibiotics are used for different conditions so I would suggest the only way to find out is to get a sample tested. Good luck.

Thank you, I will take him to the vet then, I hadn't thought of taking a sample but that seems a sensible idea, thanks.

I made them laugh at the vet when I took a sample in ... I took the whole sample rather than just a small amount! I looked up your previous post and see that your pup is a retriever - not the breed I would expect to be growling unless there's something wrong. Good luck. Keep us posted.
