We have a lovely 3 year old labradoodle, she's a fantastic dog, great with our young kids, generally well behaved, well socialised with other dogs.

However, over the last year she's started to seriously object to other dogs approaching the dc.
It was initially just big dogs, and she would warn them off with a quiet growl, but it appears to be getting worse. She now won't let any dogs near them, except for friend's dogs that we know well, and can behave quite aggressively, which is uncharacteristic. She has never bitten another dog, but I'm worried she might. Also, she now won't go off to play with friend's dogs as she used to, as she stays 'on guard' besides the dc.

At present I am just keeping her on her lead anywhere we might meet another dog, but I'm hoping I could help this behaviour through training, but I'm not sure how. We've contacted a dog behaviourist but they have a waiting list.

Anyone have any ideas about what I can do? My dog is very much my first child and I want to help her!
