Fleas - treatment - which is the best/what do you use?

I've been using frontline combo. I had heard reports of it being ineffective and the vet disagreed at first but they are now championing a new brand as they have had several reports of it not working.

Lots of people recommend Advocate. There's so many out there who recommends what?

We use Advocate on our cat and dog. No complaints.

Advocate for fleas, roundworms and lungworms.
Advantix for fleas and ticks
Seresto for fleas and ticks
Choice depends on your pets lifestyle and should be made in combination with worming program.

We're using Advocate and Drontil on our pup.

Advocate if lungworm is also a concern. (plus a tapewormer, plus consider tick treatment)
Advantage for fleas only or advantix for fleas and ticks (plus a combination wormer)
Seresto collar (fleas and ticks) if dog doesn't swim.
Comfortis tablets (fleas only) if you don't want to use something topical.

Lots of options, get advice from your vet. One of these days I'll invent one product that does everything, make my fortune and give up work.

We used advocate but my cat had a reaction to it which became quite severe so we stopped.

Now trying stronghold. Frontline is ineffective, you might as well buy a flea gastro pub and put on a free buffet for them.

Advocate as it does fleas, roundworm, ear mites, lungworm - really good of you don't have a tick attracting dog!
Mine have it monthly and touch wood never picked up a tick despite lots of field roaming!!

Actually baking tins seresto collar is effective of they swim. I checked this out with Bayer as mobile mop is a swimmer.

Our vet has given us a supply of Effipro? Not sure about the wormer tbh but going in next week for his next dose. What's the difference?

I think effipro is still fipronil which if I'm not mistaken, is the same active ingredient you get in Frontline?

I tried it when it was v cheap from Petmeds and it was shite. She was crawling with fleas very quickly. Sorry

Seresto is effective if they swim but it potentially kills off the wildlife by getting into the water.
Effipro is a fipronil spot on, same as frontline.

Thanks for the clarification, he's never had a flea or a tick so fingers crossed its working!
