Advice on walking puppy on a lead please?

Pup can go out for his first walk tomorrow :). He has a flat collar and lead suitable for puppies and he has been wearing his collar every day since we got him, all fine there. Have also been putting his lead on him every day once or twice to get him used to it and as expected he runs around and tries to eat it etc but whenever I try to gently try to walk round the garden holding the lead, he really doesn't like it. He lies down or plants his feet firmly on the grass and cries. :( I'm using treats to help coax him but he looks pretty horrified at the moment.

My plan tomorrow is just to put his lead on and sit in the front garden with him for a wee while til he gets used to the traffic and smells etc a little bit before I venture for a short walk but I actually don't see how I'm even going to get him walking. Any advice??

Take it slowly. Dont rush, you're doing all the right things in getting him used to it at first.

He keeps giving me big sad eyes like Im a cruel horrible owner. I think he's disgusted with me for even trying!

Good to start with your plan if the front garden first but when you want to actually walk, pick him up and go little way from the house, just a couple of houses or so to start with. Then put him down and let him walk back home..... He will be more inclined to cooperate
