So a month after Drontol and 2 weeks after Advocate the dog still has worms.

Got his worm count back. He as whip worms and round worms.

The worm count people suggested Drontol plus again.

But why hasn't it worked previously? I put the tablet in cheese and I'm sure he ate it. Plus the advocate goes on his skin and I didn't bath him afterwards so why hasn't that worked?

I am guessing they are reporting worm eggs rather than actual worms. You need individual professional advice based on exactly which roundworms have been found. Are they regular dog roundworms or ones that normally affect other species? Drontal and Advocate are active against dog roundworms. Whipworms are more difficult to treat and again you need specialist advice about how to go about this.
I recently had a case of a pup infected with parrot roundworms it's a very long story, but much more specialist worming was needed.

Yes it was eggs rather than actual worms.

They were Toxacara Spp and Trichuris vulpis

So standard roundworms. They said that Drontal will treat the whip worms.

You need professional face to face advice on the basis of not just what type of eggs, but the actual numbers. Toxacara is not just one type of worm there are several different types and knowing which type is important for treatment.
