My 3 year old Labrador is having a lump removed tomorrow

Just that really. I'm so worried about my lovely, naughty girl.

I found the lump last week. The vet suggested keeping a close eye on it, but it has grown so it is being removed tomorrow. She is eating well and active, which it positive, but I'm worried it could be sinister.

Fingers crossed for a good outcome.

where is the lump?

FayeKorgasm · 07/08/2013 09:35

Thanks for the kind messages. It is o. her chest.

We will know more this afternoon.

She really wasn't impressed to miss walks and breakfast this morning!

i'll bet Smile

so in the breast tissue i'm guessing. i so hope it's something benign and surgery goes smoothly.

let us know when you do.

FayeKorgasm · 07/08/2013 15:40

She has come through surgery very well, though she is extremely sleepy.

The lump looked like a fatty mass, but is going for analysis. It is looking positive though which is a huge relief.

Boiled chicken and rice for her tonight if she is hungry - which I'm sure she will be.

Thanks for all your kind words, Lily sends lots of licks too.

Hope it will be good news for you! These tests are always so worrying...

swallowedAfly · 07/08/2013 15:42

no tongues! love dogs but so not up for being licked Grin

glad to hear it is all as good as it can be at this stage. how long does analysis take?

FayeKorgasm · 07/08/2013 15:56

I'm not sure how long the results will take. A few days I hopeSad

it will likely all be fine. bet the vet wouldn't have said anything about what the lump was like or what he thought if he had any doubts x

TerraNotSoFirma · 07/08/2013 16:42

My GSD had a lump, started out as the size of a tick, vet said keep an eye on it, it grew to the size of a testicle.
Removed, benign, fatty mass, dog was right as rain the next day.

I remember the worry though until the results come though, the vet said he old have told me to expect bad news if he thought it was something serious.

FayeKorgasm · 07/08/2013 16:50

Thanks so much for the positive words.

It really helps.

I could have thought of a more positive word than testicle (it that's what it looked like) :)

FayeKorgasm · 16/08/2013 14:49

I'm pleased to report that the results were as expected, a fatty mass! Phew! She has had her stitches out now too and has healed well.

The down side was, she picked up kenel cough, but has responsed to the AB's and is fine now.

She is lying in the sun chewing her toy pheasant without a care in the world.
