Westie aggressive with other dogs

Have acquired a four year old Westie who is aggressive with probably half of the dogs we meet on walks. Has anyone any tips for us please?

Keep on a lead until you get the problem sorted, is it a male female thing or random with all other dogs? Contact a trainer and start looking on websites for advice there is some really good stuff out there. Hs aggression may be for a number of reasons like fear, dominance etc under socialised over excited and naughty maybe keep him away from strange dogs for now and good luck it can be sorted.

my mum's dog was aggressive with others because he was under socialised and just did not understand how to behave.. she got the help of a local dog walker who had their own dogs - they took out her dog with theirs, gradually introducing them, then walking them together, then introducing other dogs etc... they took it slowly over a year and now the dog is fine and can be walked anywhere with no problems.
