I've posted some dog poo off today.

I found a company that you can post a sample of your dogs poo to and they look at it under a microscope and email you to say if your dog has worms.

I think it'll be interesting to see what they say. I've wormed the dog regular with Drontol so thought he was fine. Then used some advocate for fleas and a week later there were some roundworms in his poo. This was the other day so I'm a bit freaked out. The vet said that the worms must be dead if they're coming out, I'm not sure though. When he first pooed there were no worms, ten mins later I could see worms so they must have been moving.

The company sent a little kit out. With a tiny box to put the poo in. It was all a bit gross. I had gloves on but managed to get poo on the outside of the box so I feel sorry for the person who opens the envelope. Though hopefully they have gloves on as well.

I'm sorry, I have nothing of use/interest to say but that was the funniest thread title I've seen today!

I am a bit worm phobic. I can see me getting obsessed by this and sending samples off every month. Mine, dh, dd, the dog, the cats, the chickens...

When I saw this, Viva, I got a bit worried and thought you might have sent it to the breeder you got your dog from!

I send out poo every night - I live a wild life.

Is this why Gillian McKeith hasn't been fiddling with poo on the telly recently? She's branched out into dog poo.

We do worm counting with the horses.....

Well, not actually with the horses, none of them are Mr Ed. And one of the reasons I prefer horses to dogs is that they show very little interest in their own or their companions poo.

I think one reason mad dog was so wormy is the amount of dog poo he eats. Not his own but other dogs. Drives me mad when we're out for a walk and he's scoffing all the dog poo he can find.

Viva, that's a good thing, if they are the same as ponies If there are dead worms in the poo then the worms are coming out of the dogs system.

The farm where our pony is kept send off poo samples. Ponies can become immune to the wormers on the market and one of their ponies recent had a bad case of worms, so clearly had become immune. She was wormed, and her poo's were manky for about a week afterwards, lots of dead worms in them (you have to 'poo pick' the field, this is how I know!)

Cue waiting in the yard for approx. 10 ponies to poo (obviously they didn't), so we can put our respective ponies poo in the little sample box to be sent off for analysis. Obviously they didn't so then lots of loading on and off trailers (usually they poo when loaded) or following them round in the field for ages and ages.

Egg counts back and most medium or high, even though up to date with their worming treatments so they have all been wormed with a herbal wormer and samples sent off again for analysis after a given period. Luckily, our pony now has zero eggs showing in his poo sample so the herbal stuff has worked

Wow, that's quite scary that the wormer hadn't worked for the ponies.

Dog has been having dead worms coming out for 4 days now, I just thought they'd come out in one go.

That is both revolting and informative viva :o I never deflea my dogs, 10.5 years and they've never had them. Am a bit worried now that there may be worms alurking.

You need to send some poo off to the worm people. I'm hoping for results tomorrow so I'll update with how wormy the little bugger is.
