when should my dog be eating her normal food?

This is probably a bit of a dim question, but I'm a bit unsure about feeding my dog after a procedure that involved an anaesthetic but no incision. She was pretty sick early this morning (procedure was performed yesterday) and I've been feeding her on chicken and rice today. She's picked up a lot since this morning and seems a lot more herself. Hasn't been sick since about 11 this morning.

She can't take chicken too long as that can upset her stomach as well, so I would need to try other things anyway. Would it be too soon to start getting her back on her usual food (Nature's Harvest) tomorrow and when should she be back to her usual amount?

This is by no means an expert opinion but when our pup was neutered in March the vet said it was ok to feed his usual food straight away but ok to give chicken and rice if wanted to give him a treat. I gave him it the day of the op and the next day and then went back to normal.

That's the thing really, when she was spayed I'm sure she went straight onto her normal food, so did that last night and I was woken at 6.45 this morning to the smell of vomit and she just proceeded to throw up for several hours - not continuously obviously - but it was pretty awful and I was running round the house cleaning up behind her. Poor little thing, I felt so guilty and I really don't want a repeat. Although I think she's feeling better generally now, so she'll probably be ok if I take it slowly.

As much as I've scrubbed the carpet I can still smell vomit - have to run round with the Febreez - and I'm worried I've missed some and it's lying in wait for me to step in with my bare feet.

Thanks fan. Yes she is feeling better. We went for a short walk this morning and she was jumping around and running along just like her old self.

It's hard with dogs because they can't say, 'I'd rather stay in today', or 'Yay I'm feeling much better':).

I kept to the chicken and rice last night and will give her a couple of small meals of her regular food today, rather than her usual one meal in the evening. Hopefully be completely back to normal soon.
