Driving to Crufts on Fri/Sat - am I mad?

Hi, I'm off to Crufts with my sister this Friday and Saturday. We're staying in a hotel in Coleshill on Fri eve, so we were planning on setting off early from Somerset on Friday, driving to Crufts and parking at NEC, back to hotel Fri eve and then driving in again on the Saturday morning.

Someone at work though has just told me I'm mad and apparently it will be horrendous driving there.

Does anyone have any experience of this? thanks

We're going on saturday, on the train, mainly because after a week at work I decided i'd have a better day out not having to drive, park etc and it'll be more of an adventure for dd.

I imagine it'll be busy, arrive early, leave late is probably a good idea.

Not very helpful I'm afraid, I've only been mid week before and it was pretty hectic.

I was even surprised I couldn't book train seats at a table, and I booked a week in advance.

It will be busy, but get there early and it will be doable.

We will be leaving our hotel at 7 (gotta get the dog in!) and in previous years traffic has been relatively light and parking easy. Try to leave as late as you possibly can at the end of the day, getting out of the carpark took us an hour and a half one year as everyone wants to get out at the same time. Exhibitors are allowed to leave after 4ish i think? So a lot do pack up and go then

Thanks everyone, sounds like we should be ok then
