My collie was very excited by the armpit-high snow in the garden and was running around in it like a loon
Our garden wall is quite low, backing on to a steep drop in to a little stream ad then there are empty fields on the other side of the stream.
DogBach likes to stand with her back feet in the flowers and her front feet on the wall, surveying the fields beyond, but has never gone any further. Clearly though, this time, the sight of all that virgin snow was just too tempting, because she took a running jump, straight across the stream and in to the field!
When I called her back, it didn't occur to her to come back the same way, so slithered down in to the stream and tried to scramble up the sheer drop. Silly dog couldn't manage it and slid back down in to the (freezing) muddy stream. She huddled herself up on to te other bank and was far too shaken and cold to try again, so I had to climb the wall in my dressing gown and wellies and get in the stream to pick her up and launch her back over the wall.
Fun times!
She instantly went to bed, shivering. She's now had a bath and is recuperating by the fire.
This is not how I imagined my morning going
