Is there a catflap my dog won't break?

There may be a really obvious answer to this, but if there is then I haven't thought of it! Things have settled down with rescue Gymdog (4 months here) and our cat (12 years here) to the extent where she has now used the catflap a couple of times for the first time since he arrived. Major milestone! This is instead of me letting her out of a window and me going into the garden to trap carry her back in several days later.

Unfortunately, the 'catflap' has nothing flappy about it and is now just a plastic framed hole in the back door. Gymdog has broken the flappy bit by jamming his head through it and snapping the plastic hanging bits. I replaced it, he did it again. He's also done this to the fancy cat litter with the flappy entrance.

At the moment we have a breadboard leaned up against the hole in the door. If I move the breadboard, particularly overnight, the kitchen gets so cold we end up with the heating coming on all night. It would be ok in the summer.

So, is there a catflap my dog won't break?

Marking my place, exact same problem here. Flapless cat flap, thanks to nosy collie who likes to stick his head out of it has to be blocked up when very cold/when putting the heating on, but cat goes upstairs and shits on the bedroom carpet rather than asking to be let out when catflap is closed Angry

I feel exactly your pain santashairy, maybe worse. Our cat chooses to go under the bath which currently has no bath panel. As the bath is a corner bath the resulting mess can be very difficult to reach. I'd swap you the bedroom carpet any day Grin
