OK help me why does newdog think dd2 is a play thing

Hi need a bit of advice we have had new dog 7ish weeks now and he is getting there and isn't jumping and nipping anymore we have taught him down and off when he started and distraction, except with dd2 he will pull at her wont stop when she says even though she says the same as us , it only happens at night, we do play with him and do some training but poor dd2 has to get out the way when he is in this jumpy playing mood as he is nipping at her sleeves and her trousers, dd2 is 14

Is she the smallest / youngest because our terrier does the same to my daughter when he has one of his 'mad turns' and I assumed its because she's the least able to defend herself. Fortunately it doesn't happen often and is normally encouraged by everybody laughing at them , which doesn't help.

Our youngest DD suffered with this too - she was always a bit more nervous around the dog than any of us, but we got her to be more firm with the DOWN command, to turn away when he jumped up, and we all worked hard on "no nipping" - which he understood from about 5 months.... he did learn quickly not to do the jumping up...

yes she is the youngest he doesnt do it to my 19 yr old he did do it to everybody when we first got him but now it is just her he hunts down I think it maybe her vibe she is quite jumpy and giggily when she plays with him

My puppy does that to DD (12) as well, I think it's more playmate than plaything though, lol.

Tbh though, he doesn't do it anything like as much if she actually effectively tells him to stop - I think it's more bad training of DD than a dog problem.

DD1 did have to lower her tone when she was telling him to get off and that did really help dd is really high pitched still ,even though she is saying the words , iyswim

I will get her to calm down turn away from him and lower her voice and be a bit firmer he just gets really excited ,

That's the problem with my DD she's telling him to stop but its very high pitched and squeaky and doesn't come across as at all authoritative , she also tends to just collapse in a heap and then he's all over her ! I'm sure he knows she's the weak link as he doesn't do it to anyone else .

When Hully has her mad half hour she is most soddish with Ds who is 9 and she's 6 months now , yet dd who is 2 is treated much more gently.

I think it's a playmate thing too.

yes i do think it is a playmate he wont let her go to school in the morning he is ever so dramatic and throws himself at the front door and looks at her as if to say DONT LEAVE . with everybody else he doesnt bother his tail

he has calmed down again when we first got him it lasted the whole evening now it is down to a hour dd is stroking him he is showing her his bits , I just dont want him biting her iyswim
