Healthwise does number of pups in a litter matter?

We're looking for a weimaraner and have found a reputable breeder. Their dog has subsequently had a litter of 4 healthy puppies. It is her first litter. Does the number of pups matter?

... I read that a small litter is not as healthy. Is that nonsense?

Hi Poppy, that is not true :-)

Smaller litters can be much better for the Mother and the puppies, less chance of small puppies, or puppies that don't thrive, smaller litters are also easier to handle and socialise.
